Do you have fun in this class?

Yes, I have. I really enjoy learning English in Professor Tsao's class. Through this semester, I can really "feel" that my speaking, listening, writing and reading abilities are making progress. At the first time, I can't make myself used to read "Advanced" every day and listen to the CDs, but I gradually find something interesting in it. The content is meaningful and I can follow the foreigh people's accent to improve my speaking. The most important is that professor used "Friends" as a teaching tool in class. I can now understand what the people in the film are talking about. I find myself more efficiently and effectively completing my norvel reading progress. I discovered another interest in me! I also love the content of "Intellegence"! To sum up, I really enjoyed everything in class.(Julia)
What I learn from this class can be divided into three parts. They lead me to discover the beauty of English and the world. First, initiative of leaning. With motivation of leaning, I can get what I want directly. Free Reading is a good method to make initiative of learning as a habit. In this part, I think I should develop my courage to ask qustions so that I can get information immediately. Second, by writing reading journals every other week and having quizzes about Friends, Ithink I improve my writing skills. I learn a very important skill in this part, "wriing stories specifically." Last, learning skills. With them, I can do everything more effectively and more enjoyable. They aslo help me get on the track with the world.(Tina)
Of course, yes. Taking dictation tests is fun. It makes me absorb in every word the teacher said. Watching "Friends" is fun. It always makes me laugh and learn mew things of the American Culture. Watching movies is fun. Teacher always selects meaningful movie for us to watch. Though I couldn't totally get what they were saying. Making presentations is fun. I learned a lot from doing that. It is definately that I have a lot of fun in this class although there are many things we need to prepare, practice and do. I think I come to a very useful class every Friday, absorbing lots of knowlege and sharpening my English skill. Enjoying Friends, Advanced, and presentations showed by classmates, I found that English is not just a subject, English can take yu abserve the things around the world and help you express yourself. I think this class is quite fun because we use a variety of materials instead of text books to improve our English. By watching movies, I can learn new vocabularies from it and I won't feel bored. By using a class blog, I feel excited because I have never done this in other classes before. It is very convenient for us to know the recent news in class and improve our writing skills by looking at other classmates article. By preparing presentations, I realize the importance of cooperating with my group. The process may be hard-working, but we share our ideas and help each other to make it perfect. In this English class, I think I learned a lot and had lots of fun. First, Advanced--Reading Aloud and Dictations made me carefully read the contents in Advanced. There are different types of articles including finance, society, science and so on. I then expanded my knowledge base, got my English abilities improved, and had fun listening to different kinds of accents in class.
Second, group-works in class is meaningful and interesting. While we were preparing for presentations, the interactions between our group members are hard to forget. We made drafts, prepared power points, ate dinner together, and practiced for so many times. These are tiring, but meaningful. The sense of accomplishment is the source of fun.
Third, journals were sometimes fun, too. The materials we chose may be interesting or thrilling, and these always gave me many ideas to write in journals.
Finally, "Friends" was the most interesting part in class. If there's a word that best describes "Friends". that is "Fun". It always made me laugh, and my mood always turned good due to it.

Yes, I am. In this class, I found out lots of things which is interesting. First, it is my classmates who provide me with a good learning environment. They're self-motivated to learning. So, I always encourage myself to be part of them. I really enjoy learning with them in this class. Moreover, the atmosphere around the class is very delightful. When I stepped into the classroom, it seems like I stepped into a family. May be it is because we are getting familiar with one another but the main reason is, I thought, our same affection toward this class and English. That's why we are close to one another so naturally. Yes, I am. At first, when I learned that I was put in the highest level, I was scared. The reason is I don't know whether I can handle the work. However, during this semester, I found I have not only learned a lot, but also had a lot of fun. For example, the presentation. It is quite interesting when our group working together for this homework, we discuss, exchange each other's opinions and decide the best part to present. It is very exciting to stand in front of the class and try our own best to give out our perspectives and have a close look at the limit time. Although there are still many things to be improved, it is always a good try to do all these things. As the saying goes, "Practice makes perfect." Yes, I'm having some fun in this class. I like it when our group gathering together working for the presentation about five minutes long. I felt like a team member, and actually, I was, when we searched for the information, discussed and make the power point. Moreover, I enjoyed watching other groups' presentations, too. Frankly, I didn't feel comfortable but a little nervous in this class at first, Because you, the Professor Tsao's teaching way is so different from the traditional way. Another reason is that this class is advanced class. I thought the class materials would be hard to understand. But as the time went by, I was getting used to the way you teach, and the class materials are not so hard, and the most important is , it can pique my learning interest. Besides, I love some ideas and thinkings you have taught, these are not just only useful in class, but can be used in life. And the presentations make me learn a lot, for example, how to organize a topic and transfer into some simple ideas that can make everybody understand easily, how to deal with the team members if the conflicts happen, etc. Last, I just want to say "I love Friends! Y, I am having fun in this class. From reading Advanced out loud, I notice several good voices and accent in our class. Watching "Friends" is the best part of the class for me. The stories and the characters always make me laugh out loud. "The Extensive Free Reading Project" give me the confidence of reading. Because I always think my reading comprehension is bad, I neither like reading too much nor have enough patient on it . However, by free reading I get some confidence back cause I enjoy the book I chose. Though comparing to other classes, our courses seem much heavier, I still like this way of learning. So as the presentations, frankly speaking, it is quite a trouble for us to prepare for it, however, it is extremely fun to seeing and learning from other classmates' view. Every week we watch "Friends" to improve our listening skill and learn America's culture and native words. I enjoyed the programe and feel interested. Because I always learned English from textbook. It's my first time to learn English in another way. By watching fun programs, English gradually became my habit. And I had another fun in the class. That is the final presentation. Yes, I am. I have a lot of fun in this class. Although I have to get up early and do some homework, I really learn a lot in this class. I don't think I waste my time. We have learned things which is meaningful. We not only learn English but also sharpen our abilities. On reading aloud, we become braver and more active in class. Yes, I am having a lot of fun in this class. English is my favorite subject, I always watch HBO or star movies when I have free time. I think watching movies is the best way of learning English. I enjoy everything I learned in the class. There are three reasons. First, I experience the whole new English teaching method that I can't imagine before such as learning everyday conservation through watching six friends and the English presentation. At first, these kind of way to learn English surprised me but I gradually get used to it and learned many things from that. Second, teacher always gave us some useful tips of how to learn English such as read out loud when studying magazine and take notes whenever possible. Chandler has loved Mornica for a long time . As time went by , he made up his mind to make a proposal to his lover . He bought a ring and planed everything ahead , including a romantic restaurant and a wonderful plan .However , things seemed to go wrong as Monica's ex-boyfriend , Richard , appeared , and he proposed to Monica , too . Meanwhile , Chandler's good friend , Joe , told him about how had the condition was . To our content , Chandler finally won her heart in the end .They finally got married as we expected .

Of the six characters , my favorite is Joe . Because he is a funny guy and always brings a confident smile . Though he acts palyfully , he would help his friends when they need him . I love his expression most . On the other hand , Monica is the least . Because I think that among these leading actors , her characteristic is more blurred than anyother .

After watching several episodes of friends , I found that I can identify what they said in the film more clearly . Because the caption on the screen disappeared quickly , I need to listen more carefully to what they said . Besides , I learned more native phrases and natural accent . Most of all , watching and listening under less pressure is an effective learning way to listening comprehension to me .

1. Chandler is going to propose to Monica and he makes a perfect plan. However, Richard makes the things complex. Richard tells Monica that he still loves her. Chandler wants to pretend that he doesn't want to marry because he wants to give Monica a surprise. But the thing is going out of control and it pushes Chandler has to propose to Monica right away without a plan. In the end, Monica realizes that Chandler is just trying to surprise her so she decorates their house with endless candles. They are finally engaged in the extremely romantic atmosphere. On the other hand, Ross breaks up with Elizabeth because he notices they don't have a big future and their age is really a problem. In addition, when Phoebe and Rachel see how happy Chandler and Monica are, they decide when they are old and still stay single, they will marry Joe and Ross.

2. Chandler is my favorite character because he is humorous and kind. I like Phoebe least because I usually can't understand what she is talking about. She acts illogical. However, I really like them all and they really give me a lot of fun.

3. I think it is a very useful tool to improve my listening skill. Friends provides us a easy way to contact Americans' daily English. I can gradually understand the story lines, for example.

However,everything changed when Richard who is Monica's ex- boyfriend appeared.Chandler felt very uncomfortable when the Richard was present and began to doubt that Monica still loved Richard.Because of the interruption of Richard he rethought a strategy to suprise Monica He mean to pretend that he didn't want to get married to scare Monica.Nevertheless,Monica was so scared that she went to find Richard to get some comfort.Richard also confessed that he still loved tina and would like to get married with her.Though,Monica was in dilema,she finally found out what she loved and instead proposed to chandler .The last scene was that both of them huged togther with thousands of candles surrounded.Joey bought a boat at the silient auction because of his vanity.Now ,he called himself captin and indulged in this title.Pheobe and Rachel were fighting for the backup between Joey and Ross.At last ,they decided to use lot to pick one.

I like Phoebe the most .She seemed to have mysterious charisma that make me like her.She always did some strange and funny thing that often suprised me .Whenever i saw her ,she always did novel thing that make me laugh out loud.I don't like Rachel because she is never contented with what she already has and always wants some more.

I can improve many ablilities through watching friends such as listenig and using conversation English.These skills can't acquired just by reading some text book .As far as i am concerned,this way of learning english is very useful.

Q1. Candler finally asked Monica to marry him, but he would like to do some special events. Unfortunately, Monica ex-boyfriend ruined Chandler's surprise. On the other hand, Rachel and the other two friends went to an evening party which was belong to a child foundation. Joey made a mistake that he confused about the definition and he got a boat with 20,000 dollars. Back to Ross, he had noticed that Liz was lived in the different generation. Two of them really have a huge gap. In the end, Monica asked Chandler to marry her. How surprise the ending was!

Q2. Rachel, of course. I like her way of thinking and she actually do very good about acting. Talking about who I don't like most is difficult. I think six of them are doing very well on making fun for everyone.

Q3. Although "Friends" didn't use the right way of English speaking. It used a lot dialect which weren't very formal. We still can listen to the accuracy accent. But I think it will be better if we don't have any captions.

1. The major line is about Chandler proprosing to Monica. He had been planning it for a long time, but he missed the chance to propose to her at the restaurant because they ran into Monica's ex-boyfriend Richard.

However, he tried another method by pretending he hates marriage just to make Monica sad and then give her a surprise. Unfortunately, Richard came back to Monica and told her he still loves her. Monica was in a dilemma and she had to think things over. Untill Chandler knew what happened, he finally found out how serious this situation is. He went to find Monica, but Joey had already told her the truth. Beyond to Chandler's expections, Monica proposed to Chandler and they got engaged at the end.

2. My favorite character is Rachel, because she always looks so serious but actually talks with a sense of humor. She has a lot of emotional expression in the movie which makes her funny and adorable. The character I like least is Chandler. Maybe its because I hadn't see impressive funny scenes in the movie.

3. I think it helps a lot in my listening skills. In the beginning I may have to rely on English subtitles a lot, but at the end of the semester, I can know about 90% what the characters are talking about without looking at the subtitles.

After a lot of big troubles, Chandler and Monica engaged. At first, Chandler pretended not want to marry Monica, but after Monica's ex-boyfriend suddenly proposed to Monica, Chandler were really regretful for hiding the truth. Chandler ran into Monica's ex-boyfriend's house, negotiating with him. That man was Chandler's, too. So after a long and struggling "making up mind," the man finally give up marrying Monica. That man is really a "good man."

My favorite character is Monica, because she is a very circumspect woman, I love that.

I don't like Ross, he is too weak, and he looks debilitating.

I think movies that are very touching, and easy to be handled, are more useful as a tool to increase our listening comprehension. The examples are "Matchstick Man," "A Beautiful Mind," "Message in a Bottle."

Chandler was planning to propose to Monica in a fancy restaurant. Unfortunately, they bumped into Monica's ex-boyfriend, Richard, which made Chandler uncomfortable and made him fail to propose to Monica.

Rachel asked her friends if they could attend a charity auction, and Phoebe and Joey agreed to go with her. While they were talking, Ross came in, and they discussed his relationship with Elizabeth, considering that they should break up because she was too young and immature for Ross.

At the auction, Phoebe drank a lot and had a feeling of throwing up. Joey got a boat because he thought it was a price-guessing game and he wrote a large amount of money. He considered himself as a great captain.

Ross eventually broke up with Elizabeth, and was attacked by a water balloon.

One day, Richard told Monica that he still loved her and wanted to marry her, but was refused because the man she loved was Chandler. The next coming days, Chandler pretended that he hated marriage because he wanted to make Monica think that there were no opportunities for them to marry. Monica got so disappointed that she came to Richard's place. Chandler got so nervous and looked for Monica to apologize and propose to her. Finally, they engaged.

Actually, I like all of them.

If I have to choose one character as my favorite one, that would be Monica. Her mind is much more sensible than others, and she is calm and mature.

The character I like least may be Joey. Though he is a funny guy, his "How are you doing" makes me feel that he is unreliable and is a womanizer. I am not fond oh this kind of man.

I consider it a great method to practice listening. My senior high school teacher used to broadcast it to improve students' listening, too. In the episode, their pronunciation is so clear, and their tone is so nature. I think it can also be a way to practice our speaking tone.

Chandler planed to purpose to Monica. He made a reservation in a restaurant and tried to make all the things perfect. However, Monica's ex-boyfriend, Richard, went to that restaurant, too. He ate dinner with Monica and Chandler so Chandler couldn't achieve his goal successfully.
After the night, Richard found that he still loved Monica. He went to Monica's work place, showed his love to her and purposed. Concerned about Chandler, Monica refused Richard.
One noon while Chandler and Monica were enjoying their lunch, they talked about marriage. Chandler pretended that he wouldn't get married because the high rate of divorce. Monica was very sad about that.
After Joey explained the fact to Monica, she realized all the things, being ready to marry Chandler. Finally, they were engaged.

I like Monica because she is a calm and considerable woman. Whenever the other five characters met problems, she would calm them down and analyze the situation for them. Helped them make decision.
I don't like Phoebe because I really couldn't accept the way she acted. She was always doing strange things.

Watching "Friends" let me have the chance to listen the native speaker spoke the native langue. I can learn the common way about how they use words in their daily lives.

Everything was perfect until they unfortunately met Monica's ex-boyfriend –Richard. The proposal plan had to cancel. Chandler changes another plan to surprise Monica. He pretended he will never want to get married. And at the same time, Richard found that he couldn't forget Monica and proposed to her. Because Monica was disappointed to Chandler, so she goes to meet Richard again. The situation was too disadvantageous to Chandler! Joey decided to tell Monica the true. After knowing the fact, Monica waited Chandler to find her. And Chandler proposed to her again in the romantic living room. They got engaged in the end.

Of the six characters, I like Phoebe the most .Although Phoebe seems so stupid, she made this episode more funny and attractive. And I think she is a smart girl that she always has special idea! The character I like least is Joey. Because he never works hard and always bother other. And his attitude to women is giddy. I don't like such an unreliable man!

By watching the episodes without Chinese words, I can improve my listening skill more. And because the episodes is really fun that I am enjoy during watching. It's really helpful for me to listen more attentive when I am enjoy the story. I also learned many native language and useful phrase. It made me more understand American culture.

A. Being welled-prepared to get married with Monica, Chandler made a reservation at a luxurious restaurant for his proposal. Unfortunately, they bumped into Richard, who had fallen in love with Monica before. So, Chandler's plan failed. He got to pretend that he didn't care about getting marriage. Worse, Richard showed up again to declare that he still loved Monica. Which one should be chosen, A straight or a man talking about "pig-sex"? Ultimately, Monica took initiative for the proposal toward Chandler. This time, Chandler won't let her go again.

Apart from Monica and Chandler, everyone started to think about their next steps. In addition to his boat won from the "price-guess", Joey fought Ross for his backup in that Phoebe was both their backup. Ross had just ended up his relation with Lizzi because she was too young to be the one he would marry. Finally, they reached the consensus that Rachael would be Ross's backup and Phoebe would be Joey's. What a happy ending!

B. Phoebe was my favorite character. She was, of course, beautiful and thoughtful. She was the one who always accompanied friends, such as helping Chandler to pick up the ring. Apparently, the words she said sometimes didn't make sense but they're interesting and creative. That's why I like her most. Joey, a lazy man, who fooled around all days. I don't like the ways he behave at all. So, I like him the least.

C. It is a brilliant tool! Because all characters' pronunciations were good and clear, allowing me for correctly understand what they said. Moreover, there are no difficult vocabularies in "Friends". Instead, they used simple words to express stories. After watching "Friends", my listening comprehension did improve.

The most important part in this episode is that Chandler proposed to Monica. Things was not going like he expeced. They met Monica's ex-boyfriend in the restaurant. His plan was ruined, and he thought of a new one. He pretended that he didn't want to get married in his life. Monica was angry and ran away. However, they engaged in the end.

I like all of them, but I like Phoebe the most. She is funny. Whenever her friends are in trouble, she tries to help them, although she messed up all the time. If I have a friend like her, I will have a lot of fun in life.

I think Friends really increase my listening ability. I tried not to look at the substitle eveytime we watched it, and it really helps.

After knowing the fact, Monica waited Chandler to get home in the living room full of romantic candles. It's also a surprise to Chandler. And there, they both kneel down, which was kind of funny, and he proposed to her.

     I like Rachel the most cause she always appears to be clever but never lacks the sense of humor. The least may be Ross. As to the reason, I actually don't know why. Or maybe because he dated with a teenage girl made me feel awkward, haha.

     We usually learn English in a traditional way; which is, by using a text book. It's not bad if we want to learn fundamental usage of the language. But in our daily life, in our conversation with a foreigner there are some words or expression that we may not be able to learn from textbook. By watching "Friends" or any other English series or movies, we can not only asquire some fashionable expressions but enhance our interest in English.

Among these six characters, I love Joey most. If I have to choose whom I like least, I think I'm gonna pick Ross. Because I think sometimes Ross seems to be a kind of coward. I don't like his hestitation at all.

I do love to watch Friends. I've never thought that watching a foreign series episodes is much easier than I was imagining. Besides, I learned a lot common talks and conversation skills from the series. Some conversations are a little difficult to understand because of relating to the culture differences, but while I understand the meaning of the conversation I can also learn the cultures in America. 2. Monica is the character I love most. I think Monica is the most mature lady in Friends. She is a cook and she really knows how to take care of his friends. I have seen her excellent cooking skills in many episode and I really appreciate that. Joey is the one that I don't like most. He is always flurting with other women and seemed kind of useless in making his own livings.

The plan was fail to do so Chandler planed another one. He pretended that he is that kind of person who doesn't believe in the relationship in marriage in order to upset Monica and then gave her a superise. But Charlie proposed to her at that time. Althouggh Monica has a little hesitation for a while, she chose Chandler at last.

B.My favorite one is "Ross met Elizabeth's father." I think it is the most funny episode I saw in Friends. In fact , I think all of the episodes I saw were all great. I can't find the one I like least.

C. Yes, it really increase my listening comprehension. At fisrt, I think the speed of the character talks was too fast for me. Until now I can understand what they are talking about and laughing at the punch line. And to pretend that he was not (or never) going to get married, he said something bad, the "pig sex" for example, to let Monica down. And it did work. She was so heart-broken. And, at the very moment, Richard showed up in the kitchen where she worked and told her that he still loved her and that he wanted to marry her. To help Chandler, all the friends, Rachel, Phoebe, Joe had no choice but to tell her the truth. And after Chandler back to home and open the door, all he could see was Monica standing in the candle lights! She was about to make the proposal herself! In the end, they both knelt down and Monica could finally said "Yes, I do." in response to Chandler's proposal.

Of the six characters, I like Rachel the most and Phoebe the least. Rachel's so witty that she is able to deal with the embarrassing situation. On the other hand, Phoebe seems to do and say stupid things. Sometimes funny, while sometimes she makes things out of control.

In my opinion, English subtitle is really a helpful tool. It made me listen more clearly and I could usually follow what they've said; it's good for comprehension. And if there were a new vocaburary or phrase, I could write it first and figure it out later.

Rachael is my favorite character since she is really beautiful, sexy, and clever. In some episodes, she responded cleverly in dangerous situations, such as when Ross and Elizabathe dated at Elizabathe's home, Rachael covered them from being found (immediately) by Paul. I appreciate her humor, too. I like to watch her performances.
Phoebe is the one I like the least. She is somewhat unpredictable and unreasonable. Sometimes, she even made some crazy things, such as backing up Ross and Joe at the same time. Her jokes sometimes were also hard to understand.

C.
Watching "Friends" is full of fun and I think it made me to be more accustomed to the speed of English foreigners speak. With subtitles on the screen and transcripts on the Internet, I can check the words I heard and those I missed one more time. I don't really know how much I improved. But I think throughout this semester, I may some day discover the improvements in listening comprehension contributed by "Friends".

The way Rachel persuade a person to buy the boat was very special and smart. Another expression that I admire is how Joe help Chandler's proposal. Being a friend, Joe does his best to help Chandler whether when lying or when telling the truth.

My favorite character is Rachel. I think she is smart and pretty. She can always turn the troubles into other things not so bad. In addition to this, I consider she is more rational than any other character in Friends. The person I like least is Phoebe, because she is like a crazy woman all the time. I think she doesn't think her words twice before she say. Sometimes it will be funny, but if it's all the time, I think it's not fun anymore.

B. Phoebe is my favorite while Ross is the character I like least. The reason is that Phoebe is so innocent that she viewed everything simple and easy. I like the way she lived her life. Ross. His expression and his reaction always make me laugh out loud. I always remember the scene he hide under the couch and the plot he imitated Paul's movement.

In fact, I like all the six character. If it is definitely to name one, I will choose Phoebe. It's not because I don't like her characteristic but because she is the person I didn't know very well. In my memory, she seldom be the main character in the episode that we had seen.

I think watching movies is a good way to learn English. We can both have visual and audio impulses. Under the double inputs, we can learn English more efficiently. And we can also learn some useful words in our daily life.

This story is about Oliver Twist. Oliver is 9 years old when he first appear in this story, and after nearly 6 years, Oliver finally grows into a mature boy.

What happened in this 6 years? First, Oliver was send to a factory, working with other boy and suffering from starvation. Oliver may ended his life there, nevertheless, he said to his manager "I want more." while he is too hungry to work anymore. And thus he was then sold to a family maltreating him, and after several months, he ran out of there because he get his master a fightback.

Then Oliver ran into Fagin, a thief master that controlled other thief, and before long Oliver ran away again. But Fagin afraid that Oliver spread some important informations of himself. So he let Nancy catch back Oliver, Nancy doesn't want Oliver to be a thief again, so soon after she catch Oliver back, she push Oliver back to the normal world. Hence she was killed by Sikes, Fagin's friend, also Nancy's husband.

After all, Oliver become the son in law of Mr. Brownlow, a kind gentleman. Sikes kill Fagin and himself.

Oliver often go to the white stone with one word written upon it: "Agnes." The name of Oliver's mom.

1.Which ones of these methods are you already using? How do they work out for you? How's your experience compare with what Ruggiero (the author of the book) has to recommend?

PLAN MY DAYS

I am already using this method for the last 2 months, and they work fantastically on me. If I write down what should I do before I sleep, usually 2 to 3 things, than I can finish them faster the next day. I also find that when I use this method, I should not write too many things, such as 14, or even 24 things on each list I write.

And for "how's your experience compare with what Ruggiero has to recommend?", most of my experience is same as hers. Basically, I don't write what need not to be done, such as play games, but I DO write down dates and activities that I have to participate in. Second, I merely write down words that are simple enough to be a NOTE, if I don't do so, I'll loss my focus on important things.

VIEW FRUSTRATIONS AS OPPORTUNITIES

Strictly speaking, I didn't do this very well. When things goes wrong, frustrating is my first reaction, but soon, usually after one deep sleep, I could over come my frustration; feeling much better and having more energy to defeat that bad emotion.

TAKE CHAREGE OF YOUR MIND

Ordinarily, I can focus my attention on only one thing when I need to. But in one situation, I will wonder, that is, if I don't even clearly know or don't want to know what should I do, often when I face great pressure, I'll loss my control of my mind.

Maybe it's time for me to use methods to prevent and rescue myself from that situation, I noted that when I have a plan, I can concentrate on what I should do.

LISTEN ACTIVELY

For this, I want to talk in two ways. First, I definitely agree that we have to keep writing in order to focus our mind. And I do do that nowadays. However, I really, really HATE to write any thing when I focus on something, especially when I am watching movies, because that will lead me to out of focus and patience.

REFUSE TO TOLERATE CONFUSION

Sometimes I DO think I should raise my hand and ask for clarification. But because most of my classmates didn't do that, sometimes I think "If I raise my hand, the pace of the class will be interrupted by me...". Teacher really should let students feel free to ask their questions.(Because they are the person who are most likely to do this.)

STUDY EFFICIENTLY

I think in time, place, and conditions, the most important one is conditions. When I study, I don't listen to music, and I don't let my computer open, because I believe in learning, quiet beats noisy every time.

READ FOR UNDERSTANDING

After I read this, I change my ways to study, because these methods are really important for a effective learner. Especially point 1 and 2, SKIM the chapter or article, REFLECT on what you found by skimming. Because these methods can deepen and reinforce my memory..

Which ones looks interesting and promising enough that you are going to try out? What's your plan?

TACKLE UNPLEASANT TASKS IMMEDIATELY

This is what I need the most, I think. Maybe I can write down the most unpleasant tasks on my working list. (Mention above.)

I didn't do that before, but I think I'll try it someday. Because it can operate with other methods in coordination, such as point 1 or 2.

I tried to use this method before, take a notebook in my pocket. But that's too inconvenience to be keep. So now I just take a pen with me, only when there is a paper will I write down a note.

I really think we should not write too much when we watch Friends or Movies, if our purpose is to prevent forgetting things, maybe we should study this movie first, and then we watch it without too many writing, but with what we study before. First, I have to thank Willy for lending me this book. Because of some reasons, I wasn't able to finish the last book. Instead, this story is quiet interesting. It shows the weaknesses and evils of mankind that have caused trouble and conflict in our world. The author wanted to show readers that the only difference between human beings and beasts is that we are governed by laws and civilization, without which we do become savages. After reading it, I think it teaches me an important lesson about human nature.

King Lear is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. This play is based on the legend of Leir of Britain, a mythological pre-Roman king. Lear, who is old, wants to retire from power. He decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, and offers the largest share to the one who loves him best. Goneril and Regan both proclaim that they love him more than anything in the world, which pleases him. Cordelia speaks temperately and honestly, which annoys him. In his anger he dislikes her, and divides the kingdom between the other two. Lear announces he will live alternately with Goneril and Regan, and their husbands. When Lear's two daughters got power, they no longer respect him anymore. After a series of events, Lear goes and seek Cordelia her daughter that he used to despise the most. Then Lear realized Cordelia is the one who truly loves him. The story ends in a tragic way, Lear carrying his dead youngest daughter. He hopes with the possibility that she may live, with Lear saying, "This feather stirs; she lives!" But Cordelia's death is soon confirmed.

This is another tragic play written by Shakespeare. Because Lear mistrusted his two daughters by believing the lies that they told about loving him, he then got himself in to trouble. I believe we should look deep in a person, rather than judging him from the outside. You'll never know a person by just looking at their appearance, it is the heart that we should look in to, this is how to truly ''know'' a person. Avoiding the mistakes that King Lear have made.

There with the help of the captain, Crusoe becomes owner of a plantation. Crusoe then finds that his plantation in Brazil is now worth a large amount of money. He eventually disposes of this plantation and is very wealthy, marries and settles down in a farm in Bedford and has children. However, he never loses his wunderlust and desire to return to the island on which he was castaway, worried as he is about the Spaniards and the mutineers living there.
After reading, I proclaim the importance of self-awareness. Crusoe's arrival on the island does not make him revert to a brute existence controlled by animal instincts, and, unlike animals, he remains conscious of himself at all times. We see that in his normal day-to-day activities, Crusoe keeps accounts of himself enthusiastically and in various ways. Crusoe feels the importance of staying aware of his situation at all times. We can also sense Crusoe's impulse toward self-awareness in the fact that he teaches his parrot to say the words, "Poor Robin Crusoe . . . Where have you been?" Crusoe teaches nature itself to voice his own self-awareness.
In the end, I want to sorry to teacher. I did take some words from the novel.

In this period I found an interesting way to use in sentence. I found these sentences:" A week passed before she could see Elizabeth without scolding her; a month passed before she could talk to Sir William and Lady Lucas politely and many months were gone before she could at all forgive their daughter." The author put the times at the beginning of the sentences to emphasize them. So it became a sentence as " A time before sb could do something." I would try to use this new sentence pattern in my article more one I have chance.

Also, love is blind to you, it unables you to think sensibly, you might also do foolish things when you fall in love.

The author,Jane Austen, had written many love stories.Where did she get her inspiration? She must had experienced many things in her marriage. We know that poets and authors are emotional.They observe how people interact,and are sensible to the changes in daily life.These are the reasons that can create such writings.

I am not only touched by this novel, but also learn many about the culture and society in Jane Austen's era. I think next time I will read another novel written by Jane Austen.

After reading this book, I understood more about traditional Chinese women's lives and cultural conflicts betwee west and east in that time. I feel sad about traditionalChinese women. They couldn't choose what they want. All the women were forced to have the same lives. Getting married and having kids are the only life goal. Though women get more entitlement now. I think the gender equality still needs to be improve.

I think that this book is really easy to read for me. So I could truly enjoy my reading. I finally choosed a proper book for myself.

Therefore ,Jack's power became more and more stronger .Almost all the children were in his group.

One day Simon found that the beast was in fact a pilot's cadaver and the real beast was inside their mind.Actually,it is everyone who created the beast.He wanted to tell eveyone his thought.When running down the mountain,Simon was mistaken as the beast and was killed.After killing Simon Jack's hunters became more and more cruel .They started raiding Ralph's group in order to get piggy's glass to make cooking fire.Ralph had tried to get back the glass.However ,the result was that piggy was killed and the only chlidren stayed in his group was tortured to become Jack's subordinates.Ralph himself was forced to flee for his own safety.Eventually,a navy officer landed on the island and discovered what they were doing.He thought they were playing game and said i would have expected british children to be better.In the end, ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart and the fall through the air of true,wise friend called piggy.

After finishing this book,i thought it is worth reading many time.Because there are many philosophical problems in the book.Every time you read it ,you will have different thought.

I started reading this book because there was a movie version of the Phantom of the Opera, and also a musical of it at the Broadway. It sounded interesting and the setting of the French opera drew my attention to the story.

Leroux, in the story, had used first person tense in some parts of the story, as if he was there at the opera, trying to find out if the Opera Ghost really existed. Moreover, by weaving in the characters that actually existed in history into the story, Leroux made the story sound very realistic.. Another of Leroux's techniques used in this story is the pieces being performed on the opera theater's stage. For example, the singers performed Othello and Faust, hinting the start of the tragedy, and the love of the evil.

Most of the stories' climaxes are at the middle of the book; however, I think that the climax of The Phantom of the Opera is at the very end. Personally, I believe that Christine Daae loved the opera ghost, Erek, as much as she loved Raoul, the Vicomte de Chagny, although she may have considered it as sympathy. I think that is why she decided to flee with Raoul after her last performance instead of before it, to say her last goodbye to the Opera Ghost, even though it would put herself and Raoul in danger.

I really enjoyed the story because it is easier for me to read an easier version. I think I will try to read the real English version in winter and hope I can finish the whole book.

Since this is the last part of the reading journal this semester, I'm going to tell the rest of the story.

With Carrie's mind prenuptially preoccupied, she became delinquent with her library books. However, when she returned those books back, a fabulous idea came up. She decided to held the wedding ceremony in the classic New York landmark, that housed all the great love stories. Just when everything was well-prepared for the wedding on the wedding's eve, the bachelor party, Miranda told Mr. Big some harsh words like "you two are crazy to get married." because Steve had cheated on her. After the party Big called Carrie and asked her was marriage actually the thing they want and told her that he didn't want to screw it up. "We both already had done everything they could to screw it up." Carrie responsed. However, on the very day the next day when he arrived at the library, he tried to make phone calls to tell Carrie that he couldn't go in without her and that he needed to know that it was still them, just she and himself ,but no one picked up the phone. Then he made a stupid decision to turn the car around then leave. How heart-broken Carrie was.

So, in order to cheer her up, Samantha decided they four to go to Maxico, where should have been the place they go for honey moon. Nevertheless, as soon as they arrived there, Carrie went to bed and slept for one and a half day till Samantha came in to her room to woke her up and fed her breakfast. She finally walked out the door again. However, no matter how beautiful the scenery there was, she didn't feel any better and asked when she could laugh again. "When there's something funny happen." Her beloved friends answered. Latter on Charlotte did a really funny thing! She pooed on her pants because their room was having cleaning and locked! And finally, she laughed.

Didn't know where to go, she moved back to the apartment she used to live in and hire an assistant to help her deal with all the trifles in life. With the help of this sunny girl, everything was back in the order. Although she laughed more often than before, she still made the assistant lock every mail from Big.

One day, a dramatic day, Charlotte, who was pregnant and whose baby was about to due then bumped into Big in a restaurant. She was so mad at him for what he had done to Carrie that she felt like to give birth to her baby all of a sudden! Then, Big took her to the hospital. Later on, when Carrie went to congratulate the family, Charlotte told her the whole thing and that how Big was eager to see her. And she also told her that Big said he had sent lots of mails but no response. Carrie went home and checked her mail box. And with the pass word, love, she found that there were several love e-mails, most of which were copied from the book" love Letters of the Great" except for the last one, which written" I know I screwed it up, but I love you."

Just before the day the fabulous apartment which they decided to live in together was sold and ready to be transferred to the next owner, both of them went there for the pair of wedding shoes which Carrie left there. When she arrived, she found him standing back to her, holding the pair of shoes. And she finally accepted him again! Big made a proposal once again, but this time, with a romantic and tradictional way. He kneeled down on one knee.

Carrie got married in the browse as her wished at the end.

"Drug Dealers Still Live With Their Mom" is the chapter I interested most in this book. When I saw the title, I was confused. In the conventional wisdom, drug dealers are always the ones who abandoned their families. So, why the author said that drug dealers still live with their mom? This question is what I want to discuss in my last journal.

In the early 1980s, on the shore of Lake Michigan, a bloody turf war was ready to start. Everything in that district was declining, most of the habitants escaped from there to keep themselves in safety. However, there was one phenomenon that reversely prevailed—gangs.

Gangs were so popular that lots of young men gave up their schoolwork; instead, they participated in this dangerous activity. To my surprise, gangs' activity was just like a business. They traded in drugs and munitions which were profitable but risky. One of the perfectly-organized gangs, dominated by an EMBA graduates called J.T, was the most influential gang at that time. J.T applied the accounting system in its operation, such as journals, ledgers and financial statements. With these documents, I found out that J.T did make a big fortune by gangs' transactions. Nonetheless, though they are wealth enough, drug dealers still live with their mom. That is because the ones who really possessed a large amount of money were few top leaders. The wages the rest of gangs gained were only＄1,000 less than the top leaders. No wonder they constantly went home!

This topic has a hidden question. That is, if drug dealers didn't earn adequately to make their both ends meet, what would they do? The bloody street war then began. It was because the risks they had to take were more dangerous than before, the top leaders—drug dealers' boss-- would pay them more. Day by day, the district never ceased to fight. It was until a law enacted by federal government had been enforced that the district gradually returned to peace.

Although these events were occurred in 1980s and the author only wanted to deliver his interesting discoveries, it struck me as a sad feeling. Bad education, bad economy and bad environment had interrupted many teenagers at my age to pursue their dream. Today, with all mankind's effort, I have access to good education and environment. Feeling contented to what everyone else gave to me, I expect myself to be stronger so that I can contribute to the society someday.

The little author is still brave enough to hid behind the big screen . After a while , the Grand High Witch brought up an idea which she called it "Formula 86 Delayed?Action Mouse-maker ." According to the magic formula , all the witches would run one sweet shop and then make a opening by giving free sweet and choc .Children , nedless to say , would come to take those sweet which were attched with the magic formila . The Grand High Witch said ,"the formula is...child goes home feeling well...child goes to bed still feeling well...child wakes up in the moring still okey...child goes to school still feeling fine...and...at exactly nine o'clock when the child is arriving at scool!"shouted the Grand High Witch triumphantly . "They will start to shrink and grow fur and tail . Just twenty-six second they need! Child is not a child any longer . It is a mouse!"
I guess the little author may be the hero in the children world because only he knows the evil plan . I even think the author's grandma may be the ex Grand High Witch!

Aunt Myrtle seemed to know what they're thinking about. She nodded and said, "yes, he is a special kind of seal, called selkie". "Selkie are soul of drowned man and if someone sticks a knife in them, they will turn back to human. Herbert's mother brought him to the island many years ago, because he had a cough that wouldn't get better……." Myrtle told them the whole story about Herbert and his family.

Next day, Etta took them to the hill, on the top of there is an enormous big bird, called "boobrie". Their job is helping her lay eggs but those eggs seemed to be stuck inside of her. They dip rages into hot caster oil and handed them to her. When they were finding food for boobrie afternoon, they saw a strange creature appeared from water and slithered out of water. They rushed down the hills and ran into the house. They trembled and told aunts what they saw. Aunts explained to them that these creatures came from Iceland and are good friends.

Lambert is another boy kidnapped to the island, but he had a bad temper and refuse to doing work. One day, Fabio took Lambert's lunch into his room, threw food on land and told him "you're not getting something to eat until you work."

The story doesn't finish, and I will continue reading it although we don't have to write English Journal. The island in the story looks so fantastic that I want to travel to there if the island is exist. I also want to see these special creatures, and talk to them. Maybe one day these creatures will show on the "animal plant" channel.

The leading character is a shoeshine boy from Brazil. Working on Wall Street, he has witnessed scandal, infidelity, and insider trading. Finally, because the discovery of an illegal transaction, he become a spy in the big securities company. I love the book because of it Full of exciting fast-paced. The author combines the serious and humorous, true story with the fictional characters. Let me better understand how to today's Wall Street operate. The story is so true that I believe the richest, luxury and glamorous Wall Street must have some black side that we don't realize. I admire the boy that I think he is very smart. He has ability to make big bosses tell him secrets .And I also admire his moral courage to tell the true .He will meet some dangerous and nervous conditions because doing the spy job. I have not finish the book, but I believe the boy will be safe in the end.

There are many scandals about transaction in Taiwan now. Watching the news, sometime I am confused how the complex crime can be discovered. After I read book, I know that maybe the informer is one you never notice and place on the heart.

The Blue Bird we are searching for is just in our lives, and so close to us. Therefore, we need to treasure all the people and all the things around us and make this world better.

In the letters, she had to write him about her studies and her school lives but he would not answer any letters to Jerusha. In the letters, Jerusha called Mr. Smith "Daddy-Long-Legs". It was because one thing that she knew was that he was a very tall man. She had ever saw the shadow of his legs reflected on the floor, which stretched very long. So she used the name- Daddy Long Legs.
I love the way Jean Webster wrote this story. When I read the story, it seems that there is a friend describing her new lives to me, instead of hearing friend A telling a story of somebody else. The feelings are different.

This novel is not my first choice. At first, I choose the Daddy-Long-Legs; however, I accidentally lost it so I have to find another one. Because I lost the book last weekend so I didn't have enough time to select the next novel, I chose Jane Eyre to replace it. I bought Jane Eyre in my senior high but I didn't read it at that time.
Jane Eyre is one of the world's greatest love stories. It described a lady who didn't have a happy childhood and had no family got a job to be a tutor in a country house called Thornfield Hall. She had a wonderful time and enjoyed her teaching and she fell in love with the master of Thornfield Hall named Rochester. They loved each other and they soon decided to get married. However, when they were in the church, a man disrupted the wedding and claimed Mr. Rochester had got a wife already and his wife is the man's sister. Mr. Rochester explained that he did got married fifteen years ago but his wife was crazy and she was dangerous and tried to killed other people so he locked her in the attic. After hearing that, Jane Eyre was heartbroken and she left Thornfield Hall without saying goodbye. However, when she finally returned to Thornfield Hall, she found the house was completely destroyed. Somebody told her that Mr. Rochester's wife set the fire and jumped from the roof and died. Unfortunately, because Mr. Rochester wanted to help her, he was very badly hurt. He could not get out of the burning house in time. When he finally came out, he was blind and he had lost one hand. Jane Eyre found Rochester and promised to take care of him forever. They got married three days later. Fortunately, two years after they were married, Mr. Rochester began to see again with one eye. He would never be able to see well, but he now could see Jane Eyre and their children.
This novel is very short and quite easy to read. What makes the novel special is it uses the first person to tell the story. In addition, the author applies many elements what happened in her life to this novel. Although it is one of the world's greatest love stories, I have to admit that I can't feel the strong love between Jane Eyre and Rochester and it doesn't touch me deeply in the heart. It is quite strange, ah?

In the end, Serena realizes she doesn't need her "cool" friends to be happy and goes and makes new friends. She and Blair make up, they aren't friends anymore but Blair stops being mean to Serena, and Nate tells Serena he can't be friends with her anymore because of Blair.

Gossip Girl is a book that brings the real life drama of teenagers into a story. The best part about this book is that it is in teenager's point of view, showing every emotion that they go through. It is a book that takes one problem, and turns it into everyone else's problem.

This time I choose this book because I had seen its movie. And I want to know more about this story.

Will is a man who didn't have to work because his father wrote a song and Will could live off the royalties. He spent his time do everything he liked such as watching videos, having a ride, dating girls. Marcus is a boy whose mother had melancholia and tried but failed to kill herself once. In his classmates' eye, he is a weirdo. Because he had once sung out loud in the class and then he started to had a hard time at school. They met because Will wanted to date single mom.

Will though that single is very attractive, so he imaged that he had a two-year-old son and joint a single parents' club. And that where he met a woman called Suzie who bring her friend's son Marcus to their first picnic. After that picnic Marcus though that if Will could went out with his mom then maybe his mom would be happier and would never commit a suicide anymore. So he started going to Will's house to persuade him go out with his mother. Though he had failed but he made Will concerned about other people's things and feelings. And Will had taught him how to fit in the school. At first, Will is very selfish and Marcus couldn't fit in other kids. And at the end of the story, both of them started to change. Will started to care for other's feeling. Marcus started to grow, learn to be like other kids.

The author use a funny way to tell this story that is why I like this story. I felt that Marcus is right about two people is not enough. He thought that if there is only he and his mom, that would be awful because he didn't knew how to comfort his mom and he need others advices. I think it's a great story and I will read it again soon.

In process of finding treasure, they met many people such as robbers and a rich man. They even became friends.

During the time that Sandy learnd about what situation the company was, he found out that Dixon told a lie that he didn't cheat the market to get the profit. After they went to the court many times, Sandy discovered that this case included many people, even his wife and his son-in-law, John, who was Dixon's employee. John was ordered by Dixon to transfer money from the company to the account that Dixon designated. In order to protect John from being prosecuted, Clara sent money to Dixon. This solved the problem that where Clara's money had gone. The reason why Clara killed herself was revealed by a bill coming from the hospital. It was a bill about a examination. Sandy took it to the hospital and found out the doctor who asked Clara to do the test. The doctor told Sandy that Clara had herpes years ago. Herpes was a virus that transfered through having sex with a person. This shocked Sandy. He didn't know who would be that person.

One day、when he visited his sister, Silvia、who was Dixon's wife, to get some more information about Dixon's company, he found a safe near the couch. There were some papers about Dixon's health examination, and much to Sandy's surprise, there was a word that he had heard from the doctor, "herpes". Dixon was just the man he wanted to know. That night, the sound of an ambulance woke Sandy up. The man who was sent to the hospital was Dixon, and the next day, the doctor told Silvia and Sandy that Dixon was died from heart attack. Hearing this, Sandy felt relaxed because there would be a new start after FBI's investigation stopped. His family would be happy again with the whole family members' help.

After reading this book, I think this time I choose the right book. When the clues seemed to be disclosed, I felt excited and nervous. Reading this book makes me feel that I am one of the rule in the story. I think next time I can choose a book like this and I think I will enjoy reading books more.

After watching Matilda's magic power, Miss Honey decided to take Matilda home and discussed about this with her. To Matilda's astonishment，Miss Honey lived in a small cottage which located in a remote place. The room in the cottage was as small and square and bare as a prison cell. The only objects in the entire room were two upturned wooden boxes to serve as chairs and a third box between them for a table. Matilda hardly believed that here was where Miss Honey lived. She wondered that there must be something very strange going on around here. At the next chapter, Miss Honey told the whole story to Matilda to explain how it happened, including why she lived in this poor cottage.

It turns out that Miss Trunchbull is Miss Honey's aunt! And she brought Miss Honey up! She stole the legacy of Miss Honey. Matilda then using her magic power to scare Miss Trunchbull and made her give the legacy back to Miss Honey. At the end of the story, Matilda's father was found out that he is a receiver of stolen cars from all over the country so he decided to run away to Spain. Matilda doesn't want to go with her families. At last, her father agrees to let her live with Miss Honey.

Although it sounds a little unreasonable, it is a happy ending. And I also glad that I have finished an English novel during this semester. Writing reading journal trained my writing skill regularly. In conclusion, the book Matilda makes me more flexible when facing difficulties. It is a good novel not only funny but also meaningful.

Their bodies were prepared for that as well as valuable jewels and beautiful things. Queen Axtarte, who was afraid of tomb robbers, had her tomb made on the east bank of the Nile River because all the other tombs were on the west side. She made a curse："These are my words：Anyone who enters my tomb - anyone who steals from my tomb – anyone who touches my body - that person will die a terrible death. And many more shall die with him."

In the story, there were two groups that wanted to steal it. One is a gang named Amsterdam Ring. They menaced Dr. Farrow, who knew the tomb well, to take them to the tomb and then smuggle them to Europe and America to make money. The other is an antiquities collector named Dr. Jusef Strengel who wanted the antiquities of his own. Salahadin El Nur, Chief Inspector in the Egyptian Police, with the help of many other people and his unexpected tricky moves, stopped the two groups from taking it away.

I like this story because it makes me go on reading without interruptions. I was so nervous and thought that the villains may take the treasures away even if I knew it won't happen. I learned more vocabularies and phrases such as ''smuggle''、''roundabout''、''foreign number plate" and so on. I found myself more efficient this time! Reading English novels really helps me a lot! By the way, Happy New Year!

Wow,wow,wow! I'm so glad that I started to read the 3rd book in this semester. Though this is the last reading journal in this semester, I will read this book 'til the last page. While reading the novel, I found that I read a little bit slowly. I think maybe it's that this book is written by British English. Some words are quite different from the American English. But as I read more, I trust I will get used to it.

It is wartime. A small town is invaded by the enemy. The mayor
of the town, Orden, met the invaders' leader, Colonel Lancer. Colonel
was very smart to use the way of making soldiers live in the mayor's
house to let people in the town think that the mayor was helping the
invaders. Orden was surprised that the shopkeeper, Corell, was the
man who sent the information of the town to the invader. The war was
never end which was what Colonel thought, because he try the miner to
death. The unfair treatments the invaders had done made the people
angry. They didn't always treat them back immediately, but the people
would use their own force to make the invaders feel the trouble they
were going to face.
I didn't like such a serious story, but it can help me consider a
few war problems. The war is terrible, and it is worse to fight to
both of the winner and loser. There is no always winner in the war.
People start the war because of some benefits. In this story, the
invader is asking for the mine. Did they realy got the benefit by
invading other towns? Didn't they cost the soldiers' lives or any
other things? The invader would not get the peace if they never stop
invading.
There are some good sentences in the novel. For instance, "A
man must not think about living or about dying. He must think about
whether he is doing right or wrong." After reading this story I
conclude that the more difficulties the man confronts, the braver he
will be.

Then the lawyer put the gun in his mouth, closed his eyes and fired.

Both FBI and Mafia were concerned about the death and the boy. Some secret were so dangerous it's better not to tell. But then, it's just as dangerous if you didn't.

The reason why I appreciated this novel was that the plot was close to our life. The writer was also a lawyer. Therefore, he characterized various lawyers as a name－chaser, a weakling, a man of integrity successfully.

Even worse, Kingshaw saved Edmund's life several time. Yet, Edmund accused him a murder trying to kill him. No one believed Kingshaw even his mother. He hated everything and tried to escape. Therefore, he walked into a middle of stream. Then he lay down slowly and put his face under the water. He breathed very slowly and carefully…

I didn't like this story at all. The evil boy won in the end. He smiled and thought he won when he saw Kingshaw's body in the water. Maybe the author wanted us to think why Edmund was cruel to Kingshaw and didn't feel regret?

He couldn't believe what he had heard,"My friend Dr. Bruner will look after my house and all my money for me." He made up his mind to fight for his money. Therefore, he found Dr. Bruner. And it was the same time he met Raymond, who was the brother Charlie never knew.

The two men met and that was the start of a surprising new life for both of them. Raymond saw danger everywhere. That was why he did things in the same way everyday. However, he was a very intelligent person in some ways. They got along with each other for few weeks. Finally, Charlie remembered deep into his past－Raymond was Rain Man, his friend when he was a baby. The whole story was unexpected.

I appreciated this heart－warming story, the brotherly affection really touched me. Each plot astonished me that I didn't think of this kind of situation before. This novel had been adapted for the movie. Besides, the actor who showed Raymond's strange world in a successful way won the Oscar for Best Actor.

Extensive free reading project was one of my favorite things to do in class. In fact, I set a goal to read English novels as many as I could in the last summer vacation. Professor's project made me stick at it. I didn't choose the highest level to read. Therefore, I feel great and encouraged when I was reading, and I was proud of myself after finishing each book. I'll try thicker ones in the winter vacation. I'm sure that I'll do my best to keep free reading a habit in the future.

The fear is catching. Deeply-sunk in the creepy atmosphere produced by the author, I had such a great time.

In a chilly winter, Brady and his girlfriend, Sharon, went to skiing.. Brady compelled her to slide down an extremely steep slope, and unfortunately, she crashed into a big tree and lay motionless. After Sharon's gruesome death one year ago, Brady was finally ready to get on with his life. He had a new girlfriend named Allie, but a goddess-like girl, Rosha, stole his heart and he's fallen hard. But terrible accidents seemed to happen whenever Rosha's around. In addition, a strange figure with a scarred face was following Brady everywhere he went and warned him against staying with Rosha. To my surprise, Rosha's body was actually occupied by Sharon's spirit, which was planning to take revenge on Brady. When Brady was almost killed by Rosha, the girl with a scarred face, who was found to be real Rosha, saved him. Then, the two girls started a fierce fight with the attempt to attain "Rosha's body". They tore down each other's arms, legs, and heads, and whirled through the snow with twisted necks. In the last chapter, Brady walked back to Allie to apologize for being a two-timer. When Allie was about to accept him again, he suddenly hugged her and revealed that he was dead actually, and pulled her to bury herself along with him…….

The story is perfect, I think. The whole story is narrated in an easily understood form. Though there are many unexplainable points and some segments were not given good accounts for, it had successfully created a vivid scene of the story. The weirdest point I eager to figure out was how did Brady die? Did he die of coldness (because Rosha almost killed him in a blizzard)? I just don't understand why he went to Allie's place and told her that he was dead. There are so many episodes in "Fear Street" series, and I would like to read them all in my winter vacation.

This time, I shared the story with my little sister, but she seemed to be braver than me. She asked for more terrifying stories. I think I should try to be more dauntless.

Through all the extensive readings this semester, I think there are some improvements in my reading ability. To me, the more frightful the story is, the faster I can read. An interest in a book really decides how fast one can read it.

It's a meaning for song. It's a song for the Africa refugees, because they were suffered from famine. Many singers took parts in this chores, just like Taiwan's 明天會更好 & 手牽手. The song had a big influence on the world. A lot of people donated money to the refugees. It has two versions. In 2005, the song was sung again by other singers, but U2's leader vocal, Bono, is the only person who took in the two versions.

The author of this book loves books so much that he had worked in the bookstore for 17 years. Although he no longer working in bookstore, he still very fanatical in bookstores. This book is about the author's memory of the bookstore. I think this book was so special because it is the first book I have read that descript about bookstore.

Reading this book, I could not only understand bookstore staff's works and book history but also strongly felt the author's enthusiasm for the books. Amazing, this book also remind me that I am enjoy the comfortable feeling about sitting on the wood floor too. Reading is not only attractive because of the content of the book but, the atmosphere is also very worthy of enjoyment.

There are many bookstores in Taipei. Some have a comfortable sofa, the sweet-sounding music, bright light, friendly service, a large French window. Some bookstore even 24-hour open. I feel very fortunate to live in the city where the resources of book are very sufficient. The first sentence in whole book is that the author said "My first thing in a day is to go to bookstore and I always filled with a quiet excitement. This book really let me be more eager to go into the bookstore and read!

While everybody was joyfully preparing for the wedding and discussing every details about it, Carrie went out of her closet with a browse and claimed it would be the one that she was going to wear. Found in a vintage, though even not made by a well-known brand, it was so simple and classic that made Carrie want it to be her wedding dress when she first saw it. However, a big gift from above appeared. The chief editor in her company want Carrie to make an interview about 40-year-age women. And to her surprise, it was she exactly the one that would be interviewed. They were on a project about 40-year-old bridge.And, as a interviewee, she could get free vogue designer, photographers and hair styling. And lots of well-known brand such as Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, Dior, and Oscardela Renta all took part in this project and also, sponsored the wedding dress for this project. Vivienne Westwood even send her one that could bring a wedding tear from even the most unbelieving of woman, Samantha, and finally, disuaded Carrie from wearing the browse.

Then the marriage of this famous writer became more and more ceremonious. The number of guests added from 75 to 200! And this news was posted on page 6 (the entertaining page) in the newspaper eventually. However, unfortunately, all this was too much for Big since it was actually his third marriage and he cared about how anyone else would view him. It was a presure for him! Then they had a small squarrel over it but soon ended when Big said "I want you." as a response for Carrie's words "I dont know what you want."

Then one night, Carrie went to Big's bed with "Love Letters of Great Men", a book borrowed from the library which she used it for search about her new book. Used to write about finding love, she wanted to try what happened after finding it this time. She then leaned on Big and began to read. Here's one that touched her and also, me, which was writen by Beethoven.

After three months, I finally finished reading this book. Here's what I got from it:

Each of us has no doubt had that one teacher that really meant a great deal to us, good or bad, for one reason or another. Morrie Schwartz was the kind of guy who was less likely to ask you for a definition and more likely to ask you for a meaning. He was less theory and more feeling. His outlook on life was something recognized as special even before he developed a terminal disease. However, it wasn't until Morrie was diagnosed with Lou Gherig's disease that he achieved immortality.

This really is an amazing story of a teacher giving his final and greatest lesson of all. Morrie stared death in the eye and refused to blink. Rather than fear the inevitable he seized every day as though it were his last. The result is a lesson that we all can take something from to make our own lives a bit more tolerable. Morrie has lived one of those exemplary lives that everyone attempts to emulate but few succeed in doing so.

Aside from the importance of deeply-experienced relationships, forgiveness of others and self, and giving abundantly to others, Morrie suggests giving up of popular culture and materialism to create one's own culture based on ones meaningful values.

I believe that everyone should read this book. Not only should just read it, but read it every few years to remind ourselves that life is not about the tangible "things". I think we all get caught up in our everyday routine and forget to enjoy the simple things that life has to offer us. Reading this book on occasion will snap us back to think in a very unselfish way and love what life has given us.

They all thought they were kidnapped to this island and began discussing how to escape from here. Noticing the door was unlocked, they left the room, and run out of the house.

Because of wanting to know where they were, they climbed to the top of the hill. The scene was beautiful, and the wind is soft that no one could image the dangerous. And then the two ants appeared. They glared at children who were terrified. Surprising, the ants told them to eat breakfast instead of yelling at them. Art is the cook who can make delicious food. After finishing breakfast, aunt Etta told them a whole story why they need to find child to this island.

It was a true story that involves an issue of environmental protection. The founders of this island were trying to protect creation from being hurt by environmental pollution. After they died, they need somebody to continue doing their work, so the aunts went out to find the proper children. When reading here, I think of "An Inconvenient Truth". Maybe author wants to tell us the important of protecting our earth. So, the aunts started to tell them what to do and how to do chores. Though it is a fiction, figures' character those authors created are same as real people. My thought to these aunts is change because they are doing the great work. (I think)

I think this story is quite interesting and funny, which makes me doesn't want to put it down and what will happen next is unpredictable. Emma is such an adorable girl. She always do many silly things that makes me laugh. Sorry to say that I haven't finish the book, so I still don't have enough feelings from this story. Maybe next time when I finish it, I can realize what the story is really going to tell us about.
