Chandler first planned to propose at the restaurant that Monica loves. Tragically they bumped into Monica's ex-boyfriend Richard, causing Chandler failing the proposal. Having this setback, Chandler is planning on a new plan. He hopes to give Monica a surprise, so he acted like he doesn't want to make any commitments. Monica was so depressed that she went to see Richard. Gladly Chandler proposed right after Monica gave him a surprise back. At the same time Ross is in a dilemma whether he and Elizabeth can work out, ending up with a long term relationship. 2.   My favorite character is Joey. I think he's a guy with a great sense of humor, sometimes even when he's angry or in trouble, he is always telling jokes. Joey is always fooling around; people around him must feel happy. The character that I dislike is Phoebe, because she's always acting that she's very tough, and she's always making fun of her friends. 3.   I believe watching ''Friends'' really improves my listening skills in a more effective way. By enjoying and having fun from the episodes, I can also improve my listening skills and learn the American culture by understanding their conversation.

Reading Journal 6 49780004 CoEco 張均玄 King Lear is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. This play is based on the legend of Leir of Britain, a mythological pre-Roman king. Lear, who is old, wants to retire from power. He decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, and offers the largest share to the one who loves him best. Goneril and Regan both proclaim that they love him more than anything in the world, which pleases him. Cordelia speaks temperately and honestly, which annoys him. In his anger he dislikes her, and divides the kingdom between the other two. Lear announces he will live alternately with Goneril and Regan, and their husbands. When Lear's two daughters got power, they no longer respect him anymore. After a series of events, Lear goes and seek Cordelia her daughter that he used to despise the most. Then Lear realized Cordelia is the one who truly loves him. The story ends in a tragic way, Lear carrying his dead youngest daughter. He hopes with the possibility that she may live, with Lear saying, "This feather stirs; she lives!" But Cordelia's death is soon confirmed. This is another tragic play written by Shakespeare. Because Lear mistrusted his two daughters by believing the lies that they told about loving him, he then got himself in to trouble. I believe we should look deep in a person, rather than judging him from the outside. You'll never know a person by just looking at their appearance, it is the heart that we should look in to, this is how to truly ''know'' a person. Avoiding the mistakes that King Lear have made.

Reading Journal 5 CoEco 49780004張均玄 Name of the book: Tales from Shakespeare Story Name: The Merchant of Venice Author: Charles and Mary Lamb Publishing company: Penguin Group Year of publishing: 1995 This story took place in the 15 century at Venice. During that era Venice is the world's business center. Antonio the young merchant borrowed some money from Shylock. Shylock hated Antonio because he used to lend money to people in distress, and would never take any interest for the money he lent; therefore there was a great enmity between two guys. As a result Shylock was always finding a chance to take revenge on Antonio. He made Antonio sign a contract, that if he can't return the money in time, he had to cut one pound of flesh. Tragically Antonio got into some trouble so he can't pay his debt on time. Shylock sued Antonio, preparing to hurt Antonio. Finally the judge used his wisdom, solved and saved Antonio, then failed Shylock's sly trick. About this story, I believe Antonio is a really good friend. He stood up for his friend when he needs help the most. Shylock, a sly bad guy, but some say he's just achieving an economic principle. I believe he was just thinking of himself only. Making up tricks to get him closer to profits that he was pursuing. It's a story about solving problems in life that you face with intelligence.

Reading Journal4 CoEco 49780004張均玄 Name of the book: Tales from Shakespeare Story Name: Hamlet, Prince of Denmark Author: Charles and Mary Lamb Publishing company: Penguin Group Year of publishing: 1995 The tragedy of Hamlet is about the revenge of Prince Hamlet. Hamlet, son of the king of Denmark, is summoned home for his father's funeral and his mother's wedding to his uncle. In a supernatural experience, he discovers that his uncle, whom he hates, murdered his father. Hamlet pretended being mad so that his mother didn't noticed what he had discovered. After one incident Hamlet was exiled to Britain. But somehow he returned to Denmark and took his revenge. Tragically his mother accidently drank poison and died. Hamlet finally took his revenge on the uncle, but only at the cost of almost every life on stage, including his own and his mother's life. The Tragedy of Hamlet is the best piece of writing ever done by William Shakespeare. Hamlet is the classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the hero suffers, and usually dies at the end. But I believe every tragedy can turn out not to be a "tragedy". In the story of Hamlet, Hamlet's death can be avoided many times, but somehow he chose not to. By the same time we felt sympathy for Hamlet; I believe the author has more to tell us. It's that whether we carefully analyze the pros and cones before we do something. Everyone deserves free will, they can do whatever they believe in, but we should think twice before we do something stupid. Don't turn yourself into a tragic hero.

Reading Journal3 張均玄 CoEco Name of the book: Tales from Shakespeare Story Name: Romeo and Juliet Author: Charles and Mary Lamb Publishing company: Penguin Group Year of publishing: 1995 For the past two weeks I'm reading a different story" Romeo and Juliet" It's a famous story for centuries. It's a tragic love story. The Capulets and the Montagues had been fighting with each other for years. In one party, Romeo loved Juliet at the first sight, that how the story started. Romeo and Juliet loved each other very much, but because they from families that despise each other, so their love were full of frustrations. At the end of the story both Romeo and Juliet died. True love had sacrificed because of their families' conflict. Although it's a tragedy, but the two families got along with each other at last. It somehow gave them a lesson. After finishing the story I felt pretty sad. In the age we're in, we can freely fall in love with anyone we want most of the time. What happened to Romeo and Juliet can't possible happen at our time. The two families finally make up at the end of the story, but they cost two young fellows to die, and sacrificed their remarkable love. I believe it is pathetic to happen such things, it's childish. If we have to lose something important to teach us a lesson, I consider it meaningless. I hope people can think carefully, before they both lose something precious to them just to learn a lesson.

Among all the method that the mentioned, there's one that I'm already using: View Frustrations as Opportunities: I believe that I'm an optimistic person, when I feel frustrated I always it in another way; look into the Brightside. Just like the author said" Bad news is good news". By the using this method the frustration seems easily to be solved for me. There are always opportunities; a frustration that you face might turn into success, it's the view that you see it. 2. I hope I can try the method below Plan Your Days: I think I waste too many time doing nothing. Everyone has 24 hours a day, I really hope that can use my time carefully, not waste it on thing that's not important. Just as the author said I hope I can list thing that I'm going to do the other day, and write down the importance of those things. I can also spend time before I go to sleep, revising what that I have done this whole day. 3. Questions What does "Study Efficiently" exactly mean? How can you really know "what's best for yourself". How can we exact answer the author's questions, such as "Choose the right time" or "a suitable place"?

Reading Journal1 Name of the book: Tales from Shakespeare Story Name: Macbeth Author: Charles and Mary Lamb Publishing company: Penguin Group Year of publishing: 1995 The book I choose is formed by small tales from Shakespeare. The first story that I chose was Macbeth. Macbeth, Shakespeare's "four major tragedy" about general Macbeth of Scotland. After listening to the Witch's prediction he started to cast greedy eyes on the throne, and launched a series of bloody violence and contention. The desire for power led Macbeth himself on the path of self destruction. Even though he wanted to change his fate, but eventually he had to face his destiny. This tales tells us that as a human being, we must be kind at all times. We can't be greedy; knowing to share with others will make everyone joyful other than your own.
