Early-morning sunlight gilded the cobbled drive of the staff entrance at the New York Museum of Natural History, illuminating a glass pillbox just outside the granite archway. An FBI agent, rotting away in a high-security prison for a nurder he did not commit. At the moment, His brilliant, psychotic brother, about to perpetrate a horrific crime. Neither of them knew that the destiny have already been done by the book. In the other side, a woman with an extraordinary past, on the edge of a violent breakdown. An ancient egyptian tomb with an enigmatic curse, about to be unveiled at a celebrity-studded New York gala. No one knew what to do next after they found the book of the death.
It took me a lot of time to finish reading this novel. Although I forgot some plots, I still loved the gripping feeling which the novel gave me. I would also invite people who like epic and suspenseful read this book for once in your life.

The fear is catching. Deeply-sunk in the creepy atmosphere produced by the author, I had such a great time.

In a chilly winter, Brady and his girlfriend, Sharon, went to skiing.. Brady compelled her to slide down an extremely steep slope, and unfortunately, she crashed into a big tree and lay motionless. After Sharon's gruesome death one year ago, Brady was finally ready to get on with his life. He had a new girlfriend named Allie, but a goddess-like girl, Rosha, stole his heart and he's fallen hard. But terrible accidents seemed to happen whenever Rosha's around. In addition, a strange figure with a scarred face was following Brady everywhere he went and warned him against staying with Rosha. To my surprise, Rosha's body was actually occupied by Sharon's spirit, which was planning to take revenge on Brady. When Brady was almost killed by Rosha, the girl with a scarred face, who was found to be real Rosha, saved him. Then, the two girls started a fierce fight with the attempt to attain "Rosha's body". They tore down each other's arms, legs, and heads, and whirled through the snow with twisted necks. In the last chapter, Brady walked back to Allie to apologize for being a two-timer. When Allie was about to accept him again, he suddenly hugged her and revealed that he was dead actually, and pulled her to bury herself along with him…….

The story is perfect, I think. The whole story is narrated in an easily understood form. Though there are many unexplainable points and some segments were not given good accounts for, it had successfully created a vivid scene of the story. The weirdest point I eager to figure out was how did Brady die? Did he die of coldness (because Rosha almost killed him in a blizzard)? I just don't understand why he went to Allie's place and told her that he was dead. There are so many episodes in "Fear Street" series, and I would like to read them all in my winter vacation.

This time, I shared the story with my little sister, but she seemed to be braver than me. She asked for more terrifying stories. I think I should try to be more dauntless.

Through all the extensive readings this semester, I think there are some improvements in my reading ability. To me, the more frightful the story is, the faster I can read. An interest in a book really decides how fast one can read it.

This time Lizz had a chance to visit her friend who had become Mrs.Collins at the Collins' place. There she visited Lady Catherine with the couple and ran into Mr. Darcy. Lady Catherine asked Lizz many questions about family during the dinner, and she also asked Lizz to play the piano for everybody.

From the story the reader can see how snobbish Lady Catherine was. The principles she used to judge a person were shallow as the background, the talent they have. This is because that she is self-contained and selfish.

2001: A Space Odyssey

At the dawn of man, a primitive tribe lives by hunting and gathering in a desert. The tribe discovers a black monolith, which is approached and examined. After the discovery, one of them scavenges a bone from a pile and uses it as a club, discovering the first tool. This tool is used to hunt, and eventually as a weapon to kill a member of a rival tribe.

Millions of years later, a space shuttle carries a scientist, Dr. Floyd, to a space station orbiting earth. He is headed to an excavation on the moon where moonbase engineers have discovered a monolith. After arrival, he and a team of moonbase engineers approach the monolith, which emits a sharp high-pitched sound as the sun shines on it.

Six months later, a spaceship is headed to Jupiter. Five scientists are aboard, none of whom know the purpose of their mission. The ship is controlled by an artificially intelligent supercomputer, HAL, which is treated as a sixth member of the crew by the other five. During the trip, HAL claims to detect an impending hardware failure in the ship's communications system. Two scientists, Dave Bowman and Frank Poole, replace the component, but find no fault in it. They are concerned about HAL's reliability, so they meet in secret and agree that if the component does not fail, they will disconnect HAL. HAL secretly reads their lips......

Christmas Sing Along-Acc Girls

<I want a hippopotamus for Christmas>-performed by Gayla Peevey

http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=7oOzszFIBcE&feature=related

She was 10 years old when she sang this song in 1953.
This hit was recorded as a fund-raiser to bring the city zoo a hippo.

Lyrics:
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door,
that's the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too

Mom says the hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian

There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!

All I Want For Christmas Is You --Mariah Carey

I don't want a lot for Christmas

There's just one thing I need

I don't care about presents

Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own

More than you could ever know

Make my wish come true ...

All I want for Christmas

Is you...

I don't want a lot for Christmas

There is just one thing I need

I don't care about presents

Underneath the Christmas tree

I don't need to hang my stocking

There upon the fireplace

Santa Claus won't make me happy

With a toy on Christmas day

I just want you for my own

More than you could ever know

Make my wish come true

All I want for Christmas is you...

You baby

I won't ask for much this Christmas

I won't even wish for snow

I'm just gonna keep on waiting

Underneath the mistletoe

I won't make a list and send it

To the North Pole for Saint Nick

I won't even stay awake to

Hear those magic reindeer click

'Cause I just want you here tonight

Holding on to me so tight

What more can I do

Baby all I want for Christmas is you

You...

All the lights are shining

So brightly everywhere

And the sound of children's

Laughter fills the air

And everyone is singing

I hear those sleigh bells ringing

Santa won't you bring me the one I really

need

won't you please bring my baby to me...

Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas

This is all I'm asking for

I just want to see baby

Standing right outside my door

Oh I just want him for my own

More than you could ever know

Make my wish come true

Baby all I want for Christmas is

You...

All I want for Christmas is you baby... (Repeat)

Christmas Sing Along-- Bourgoesie

group:  Bourgoesie

members:  Lynn, Jennifer, Gina, Fan

Do They Know It's Christmas

It's a meaning for song.  It's a song for the Africa refugees, because they were suffered from famine.  Many singers took parts in this chores, just like Taiwan's 明天會更好 & 手牽手.  The song had a big influence on the world. A lot of people donated money to the refugees.  It has two versions. In 2005, the song was sung again by other singers, but U2's leader vocal, Bono, is the only person who took in the two versions.

It's Christmastime
There's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime
We let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty
We can spread a smile of joy

Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime
But say a prayer
Pray for the other ones at Christmastime it's hard
But when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring
There are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God, it's them instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Ooh Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all

( Here's to you ) raise a glass for everyone
( Here's to them ) underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all
Feed the world, feed the world, feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again

The author of this book loves books so much that he had worked in the bookstore for 17 years.  Although he no longer working in bookstore, he still very fanatical in bookstores.  This book is about the author's memory of the bookstore.  I think this book was so special because it is the first book I have read that descript about bookstore.

Reading this book, I could not only understand bookstore staff's works and book history but also strongly felt the author's enthusiasm for the books.  Amazing, this book also remind me that I am enjoy the comfortable feeling about sitting on the wood floor too.  Reading is not only attractive because of the content of the book but, the atmosphere is also very worthy of enjoyment.

There are many bookstores in Taipei. Some have a comfortable sofa, the sweet-sounding music, bright light, friendly service, a large French window.  Some bookstore even 24-hour open. I feel very fortunate to live in the city where the resources of book are very sufficient.  The first sentence in whole book is that the author said "My first thing in a day is to go to bookstore and I always filled with a quiet excitement. This book really let me be more eager to go into the bookstore and read!

While everybody was joyfully preparing for the wedding and discussing every details about it, Carrie went out of her closet with a browse and claimed it would be the one that she was going to wear. Found in a vintage, though even not made by a well-known brand, it was so simple and classic that made Carrie want it to be her wedding dress when she first saw it. However, a big gift from above appeared. The chief editor in her company want Carrie to make an interview about 40-year-age women. And to her surprise, it was she exactly the one that would be interviewed. They were on a project about 40-year-old bridge. And, as a interviewee, she could get free vogue designer, photographers and hair styling. And lots of well-known brand such as Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, Dior, and Oscardela Renta all took part in this project and also, sponsored the wedding dress for this project. Vivienne Westwood even send her one that could bring a wedding tear from even the most unbelieving of woman, Samantha, and finally, disuaded Carrie from wearing the browse.
Then the marriage of this famous writer became more and more ceremonious. The number of guests added from 75 to 200! And this news was posted on page 6 (the entertaining page) in the newspaper eventually. However, unfortunately, all this was too much for Big since it was actually his third marriage and he cared about how anyone else would view him. It was a presure for him! Then they had a small squarrel over it but soon ended when Big said "I want you." as a response for Carrie's words "I dont know what you want."
Then one night, Carrie went to Big's bed with "Love Letters of Great Men", a book borrowed from the library which she used it for search about her new book. Used to write about finding love, she wanted to try what happened after finding it this time. She then leaned on Big and began to read. Here's one that touched her and also, me, which was writen by Beethoven.
My thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved
I can live only wholly with you or not at all
Be calm my life, my all
Only by calm consideration of our existance can we achieve our purpose to live
            together
Oh continue to love me, never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved
            Ever thine
            Ever mine
            Ever ours
After this part, I'm firm with that love contains communication than ever. And it has been like I myself was in love while reading it. I've enjoyed it.

After three months, I finally finished reading this book. Here's what I got from it:

Each of us has no doubt had that one teacher that really meant a great deal to us, good or bad, for one reason or another.  Morrie Schwartz was the kind of guy who was less likely to ask you for a definition and more likely to ask you for a meaning.  He was less theory and more feeling.  His outlook on life was something recognized as special even before he developed a terminal disease. However, it wasn't until Morrie was diagnosed with Lou Gherig's disease that he achieved immortality.

This really is an amazing story of a teacher giving his final and greatest lesson of all.  Morrie stared death in the eye and refused to blink.  Rather than fear the inevitable he seized every day as though it were his last.  The result is a lesson that we all can take something from to make our own lives a bit more tolerable.  Morrie has lived one of those exemplary lives that everyone attempts to emulate but few succeed in doing so.

Aside from the importance of deeply-experienced relationships, forgiveness of others and self, and giving abundantly to others, Morrie suggests giving up of popular culture and materialism to create one's own culture based on ones meaningful values.

I believe that everyone should read this book.   Not only should just read it, but read it every few years to remind ourselves that life is not about the tangible "things".  I think we all get caught up in our everyday routine and forget to enjoy the simple things that life has to offer us.  Reading this book on occasion will snap us back to think in a very unselfish way and love what life has given us.

Lyrics:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

That saved a soul like me.

I once was lost but now am found,

Was blind but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears relieved,

How precious did that grace appear,

The hour I first believed.

When we've been there ten thousands years.

Bright shining as the sun.

We've no less days to sing God's praise.

Than when we've first begun.

Instruction:

Dear everyone:

What we have here is the real stuff, forget about all the youtube things. You don't have to tolerate your ears anymore, FGS brings you only the truth.

"Amazing Grace" is a well-known Christmas hymn which first appeared in print in Newton's Olney Hymns (1779). In the passing 200 years, both the tone of the music and the lyrics have been modified and revised many times. The version we provide here is a traditional tone which is well-known by public with some little modified on the lyrics. Feel the message of faith that sent by the song and wish you enjoy the music.

Book Title: Island of an Aunts

Author: Eva Ibbotson

Publishing company: Penguin Group

Year of publishing: 1999

Number of pages: 63

Aunt Etta and Coral successfully kidnapped children, Minette and Fabio. When Minette woke up, she found that she was in a strange room. She got frightened after noticed that she might get kidnapped. Suddenly, a noise came from the corner. She tiptoed to the corner, connecting to another room where a boy named Fabio lay on a camp bed. They all thought they were kidnapped to this island and began discussing how to escape from here. Noticing the door was unlocked, they left the room, and run out of the house.

Because of wanting to know where they were, they climbed to the top of the hill. The scene was beautiful, and the wind is soft that no one could image the dangerous. And then the two ants appeared. They glared at children who were terrified. Surprising, the ants told them to eat breakfast instead of yelling at them. Art is the cook who can make delicious food. After finishing breakfast, aunt Etta told them a whole story why they need to find child to this island.

It was a true story that involves an issue of environmental protection. The founders of this island were trying to protect creation from being hurt by environmental pollution. After they died, they need somebody to continue doing their work, so the aunts went out to find the proper children. When reading here, I think of "An Inconvenient Truth". Maybe author wants to tell us the important of protecting our earth. So, the aunts started to tell them what to do and how to do chores. Though it is a fiction, figures' character those authors created are same as real people. My thought to these aunts is change because they are doing the great work. (I think)

This story is about an optimistic girl Emma, who has kept her job at Panther Cola for nearly a year and hopes for a promotion to marketing executive.  Unfortunately, things don't go quite as planned, and on her unusually turbulent return flight from a disappointing client meeting, in a terrified state, she confesses her innermost secrets to the good-looking American stranger sitting beside her. When she shows up at work the next morning, she is horrified to discover that the man is Jack Harper, American CEO of Panther Cola!  He knows everything, including that she hates her job and that she is not quite sure she loves her boyfriend, but Jack does not fire her on the spot.  Instead, he gives her advice about her personal life, which she finds infuriating...
I think this story is quite interesting and funny, which makes me doesn't want to put it down and what will happen next is unpredictable.  Emma is such an adorable girl.  She always do many silly things that makes me laugh.  Sorry to say that I haven't finish the book, so I still don't have enough feelings from this story.  Maybe next time when I finish it, I can realize what the story is really going to tell us about.

Charlie Bucket and his family are very poor. The only treat that Charlie receives is a single chocolate bar for his birthday each year. This year is special because Willy Wonka, the owner of the largest chocolate factory in the world, hid five golden tickets inside the chocolate bars. The five lucky children who find the tickets will be invited to be his guests at his factory for the day and receive enough chocolate to last a lifetime. With luck on his side, Charlie finds a golden ticket inside a bar of chocolate. The five lucky children encounter many adventures with Willy Wonka inside the chocolate factory. Willy Wonka has many tricks up his sleeve and a special surprise for the child that remains at the end of the day.

I never really thought how cool it would be to enter a chocolate factory until I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I thought it was just a couple of rotten, metal, rusty machines and some work men wearing hair nets. But when I read this book it was like a whole new world inside this factory with a bunch of cheerful little working men with bright green hair. The machines are really fascinating, in the book they are giant water falls with chocolate streaming out of them into a little lake of chocolate surrounded by candy trees and whip-cream mushrooms and big candy balls. This factory brought me into a whole different world of candy making.

Because i have read the chinese edition in my childhood, so i can finish the book as fast as i can.  I did not spend too much time on  the whole story but only concentrate on a few chapters in the book. I love to read stories of a imaginary world, and the fiction is really suitable for my taste.

                    This Christmas
Hang all the mistletoe,
I'm gonna get to know you better, this Christmas .
And as we trim the tree,
How much fun it's gonna be together, this Christmas.

Fireside is blazing bright,
And we're carolin' through the night.
And this Christmas will be,
A very special Christmas for me.

You and me together
Will make this Christmas bright
Shake a hand, shake a hand now
You and me together
Will make this Christmas bright

Presents and cards are here,
My world is filled with cheer and you, this Christmas.
And as I look around,
Your eyes outshine the town, they do, this Christmas.
Fireside is blazing bright,
And we're carolin' through the night.
And this Christmas will be,
A very special Christmas for me, yeah.

You and me together
Will make this Christmas bright
Shake a hand, shake a hand now
You and me together
Will make this Christmas bright
Shake a hand, shake a hand now

Introduction:
The singer of this song is Ashanti, and its' in her "Ashanti's Christmas" album.
Before she was going to make this album, Ashanti asked her producer, "Can you bring
me something good.  " And then it was.  Throughout the ten-track disc, she plods
through both old and new holiday tunes -- from the monotonous original "Christmas
Time Again" to flat renditions of "The Christmas Song" and "Joy to the World.  " The
thin-piped songbird nearly redeems herself, however, on the sentimental "Time of
Year" and karaoke-worthy covers of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" and the old
standby "Silent Night.

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

[Chorus]
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight

Every little swallow, every chickadee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flapping them wings sayin' go bird go

[Chorus]

A wordy little raven at the bird's first dance
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
He started goin' steady and bless my soul
He out popped the buzzard and the oriole

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

Oh you better watch out
You better not cry
You better not  pout
I'm telling you why

He's making a list
He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out who's naughty and nice

He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good,

Recording:

"Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" (sometimes with Coming changed to Comin') is a Christmas song. It was written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, and was first sung on Eddie Cantor's radio show in November 1934. It became an instant hit with orders for 100,000 copies of sheet music the next day and over 400,000 copies sold by Christmas.

The earliest known recorded version of the song was performed by George Happle and the Hotel Taft Orchestra (featuring Sonny Schuyler on vocals) in 1934. It was mostly an instrumental except for a 35-second vocal by Schuyler. The version shown in the Variety charts of December 1934 was Harry Reser featuring Tom Stacks on vocal. The song was an obvious sheet music hit, reaching #1. Surprisingly, no 1934 version achieved exceptional record sales. The song was also recorded on September 26, 1935, by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra. Many believe that Benny Goodman was the first to record the song, but in 1935 Goodman actually recorded the Johnny Mercer tune, "Santa Claus Came In The Spring." Goodman never recorded "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town."

The song is a traditional standard at Christmas time, and has been covered by numerous recording artists. In 1970 Rankin-Bass produced an hour-long animated television special based on the song, with narrator Fred Astaire telling the original story of Santa Clause.

Christmas was coming.  There were two kind and honest brother and sister, named Tyltyl and Mytyl respectively, living in a poor family.  When they were thinking that the Santa Claus might not visit them with presents this year, suddenly an humpbacked fairy named Berlingot appeared.  In order to cure her daughter's illness, she hoped that the two children could help her to find the blue bird, which could bring peace and stem illness.

In the Christmas Eve, the little brother and sister took this stranger's suggestion and followed Light, who guarded them, to search for the mysterious blue bird.  The Fairy Berlingot gave them a magic diamond, letting all the things around the world have the ability to speak, and accompanied them during their journey to find the blue bird.  The members were Cat, Dog, Milk, Sugar, Water, and Fire.

First, they came to the land of memory, where they spent time with their grandparents and brothers and sisters who had died in reality but not in their heart.  The blue bird they caught there became black when they left the land.

Then they came to the palace of night.  There were several doors in the palace, and Tyltyl opened each door though he was told that behind every door there would be some terrible things such as devil, war.  When the last door was opened, inside there was a beautiful garden, many blue birds flying around.  Out of their expectation, the blue birds they caught in the garden died when they left the palace.

The above mentioned is the content I have read in these two weeks.

I think it's an unordinary journey because it started from a helping heart. Only a truly kind person would take this task.  The Blue Bird stands for happiness, but in the process of searching for happiness, we have to face and overcome many obstacles.
