During that era Venice is the world's business center. Antonio the young merchant borrowed some money from Shylock. Shylock hated Antonio because he used to lend money to people in distress, and would never take any interest for the money he lent; therefore there was a great enmity between two guys. As a result Shylock was always finding a chance to take revenge on Antonio. He made Antonio sign a contract, that if he can't return the money in time, he had to cut one pound of flesh. Tragically Antonio got into some trouble so he can't pay his debt on time. Shylock sued Antonio, preparing to hurt Antonio. Finally the judge used his wisdom, solved and saved Antonio, then failed Shylock's sly trick. About this story, I believe Antonio is a really good friend. He stood up for his friend when he needs help the most. Shylock, a sly bad guy, but some say he's just achieving an economic principle. I believe he was just thinking of himself only. Making up tricks to get him closer to profits that he was pursuing. It's a story about solving problems in life that you face with intelligence.
