A.           Chandler was planning to propose to Monica in a fancy restaurant.  Unfortunately, they bumped into Monica's ex-boyfriend, Richard, which made Chandler uncomfortable and made him fail to propose to Monica.           Rachel asked her friends if they could attend a charity auction, and Phoebe and Joey agreed to go with her.  While they were talking, Ross came in, and they discussed his relationship with Elizabeth, considering that they should break up because she was too young and immature for Ross.           At the auction, Phoebe drank a lot and had a feeling of throwing up.  Joey got a boat because he thought it was a price-guessing game and he wrote a large amount of money.  He considered himself as a great captain.           Ross eventually broke up with Elizabeth, and was attacked by a water balloon.           One day, Richard told Monica that he still loved her and wanted to marry her, but was refused because the man she loved was Chandler.  The next coming days, Chandler pretended that he hated marriage because he wanted to make Monica think that there were no opportunities for them to marry.  Monica got so disappointed that she came to Richard's place.  Chandler got so nervous and looked for Monica to apologize and propose to her.  Finally, they engaged.   B.           Actually, I like all of them.            If I have to choose one character as my favorite one, that would be Monica.  Her mind is much more sensible than others, and she is calm and mature.            The character I like least may be Joey.  Though he is a funny guy, his "How are you doing" makes me feel that he is unreliable and is a womanizer. When the girl saw the blue bird, the condition of her illness really became good, and at this moment, the blue bird flew away, to a place no one would know. The two kids were still willing to help other people though their family was very poor. It's a respectable thought that we should follow. Have a generous heart, and life will be different. Book Title：Blue Bird Author：Maurice Maeterlinck Publisher：Directions Written Year：1908 Number of pages：146        Christmas was coming.  There were two kind and honest brother and sister, named Tyltyl and Mytyl respectively, living in a poor family.  When they were thinking that the Santa Claus might not visit them with presents this year, suddenly an humpbacked fairy named Berlingot appeared.  In order to cure her daughter's illness, she hoped that the two children could help her to find the blue bird, which could bring peace and stem illness.       In the Christmas Eve, the little brother and sister took this stranger's suggestion and followed Light, who guarded them, to search for the mysterious blue bird.  The Fairy Berlingot gave them a magic diamond, letting all the things around the world have the ability to speak, and accompanied them during their journey to find the blue bird.  The members were Cat, Dog, Milk, Sugar, Water, and Fire.      First, they came to the land of memory, where they spent time with their grandparents and brothers and sisters who had died in reality but not in their heart.  The blue bird they caught there became black when they left the land.      Then they came to the palace of night.  There were several doors in the palace, and Tyltyl opened each door though he was told that behind every door there would be some terrible things such as devil, war.  When the last door was opened, inside there was a beautiful garden, many blue birds flying around.  Out of their expectation, the blue birds they caught in the garden died when they left the palace.        The above mentioned is the content I have read in these two weeks.       I think it's an unordinary journey because it started from a helping heart. Mr. and Mrs., DE Winter and Favell went to London to visit Dr. Baker, and knew that Rebecca had gotten a serious disease, which became the motivation that led to Rebecca's suicide, though she was actually killed by Maxim. 　　　There`s some mysterious elements in the story, which attracts me so much. She became the famous hostess of Manderley overnight. Mrs. De Winter found that the late Maxim`s wife, Rebecca, was known by everybody as a perfect woman. Mrs. Danvers, the housekeeper, admired Rebecca so much as if Rebecca were still alive. She had great hostility towards the new Mrs. De Winter. Mrs. De Winter gradually found that the death of Rebecca remained a mystery and Maxim always purposely avoided talking about it. This book has ten chapters, and I`ve finished half of the book in these two weeks, and the other half is planned to be finished for the next two weeks. The story seems so mysterious and interesting that it attracts me. It has been adapted into a movie and an opera. I`ve been searching for the answer of this question ── how to be a critical thinker and a good learner. I guess that there`s no specific answers but many useful methods that should be tried. Reading this article, I found that there are some strategies I`ve never thought of before, and I should try them. I consider planning my days as an important way to manage my life. I always have a note book with me so that I can know what tasks I should finish today. After I complete the work, I eliminate it on my list. It`s really a great method that I think everybody should try. I am fond of the strategy of viewing frustrations as opportunities , because I am of the opinion that frustrations can be turning points that may lead to success. When I feel frustrated, I admit that the thought of running away have come to my mind, but I seldom give up, because I view it a chance to improve myself. Instead of neglecting it, keeping working on the task with efforts can lead to different and better result. Keeping a journal is the method that I`m doing now. It`s important to me to record information I receive. I`ll make it a habit in my daily life so that I can get important information immediately when it is need. Capturing insights is interesting to me. I`ve tried this strategy, but I usually failed to seize my ideas in time and the ideas just faded away. I want to try it again to record all the ideas that come to my mind. I used to postpone unpleasant tasks, though I knew that it`s not a good habit. I would try this strategy for it seems challenging. My question towards the article is that, in "Plan your days", there are three axioms of efficiency, what does "Simplify what must be done" mean? In "Reading for understanding", there are four key words in the paragraph ── skim, reflect, read, review. Usually I read the chapter without skimming it, and I underline the sentences that I consider to be important during my first-time reading, and during my second-time reading (review), I will mark what I think to be key words. I think that my method is much easier for me to catch important information and that the method in the paragraph may not be suitable for me because I am of the opinion that it may take much time than my own method. Knopf Translated from the French by Ina Rilke Written: 2000 (English 2001) Publisher: Anchor Books Length: 197 pages In these two weeks, I finished the rest two parts of the book. I read the commentaries printed on the back of the book, and there was a sentence criticized by Michael Dirda from Washington Post Book World which I considered to be so appropriate to describe the book--"Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress is basically a romance, a novel about the power of art to enlarge our imaginations, no matter what the circumstances." Though the book was not an exciting one, it just somehow attracted me a lot.. I guess that's the reason why I didn't give up reading. At the end of the book, the Little Seamstress left the village because she wanted to go to the city to search for the new life, and she said she had learned one thing from Balzac: that a woman's beauty is a treasure beyond price. I agree what the Little Seamstress said. A woman's beauty is a fleeting thing which could disappear after a short period, especially in a woman's youth, and that's why it is worth treasuring. When I was reading the book, I used to skip the vocabularies I didn't know but marked them as new words and went on with my reading, trying to understand the sentences without a dictionary. After my daily reading was finished, I would use few minutes to look them up in the dictionary. For every book, I know that there must be some inner meanings inside them, but when I read an English novel, I find it hard to catch the meanings in the book, not to mention expressing them. The book is divided into three parts,and I have finished part 1.I think I will finish the book in two weeks or so.

The background of this book is set in the early 1970s,the later stage of Mao Zedong`s Cultural Revolution.Two boys,Luo and Ma,are sent to a remote village in Sichuan Province for re-education.When they arrive,they are questioned by the village leader and their luggage is examined.The village leader burns a book which is found in their luggage.

When he is about to burn Ma`s violin,Luo stop him doing so by telling a lie.
They are forced to work on the mountain with winding paths,including carrying buckets of excrement used for fertilizer on their back.One day,a young girl,known as the Little Seamstress,accompany her grandfather to listen to Ma`s violin performance.Luo and Ma both like the girl and fall in love with her.

The above-mentioned is the content I have read.

I used to view reading a novel as a burden,but now I`m trying to change my thought towards reading a novel.I admit that I can learn something from reading,and I want to make it a habit to read regularly..
