After reading this article, I think it is quite usefull for me to improve my English skills in a more efficiency way. Above all these methods, I have applied "Capture insights" and "Listen actively". When I'm studying, I used to highlight important keywords or words I have to look up the dictionary. I think this kind of habit is very helpful when preparing tests because it can let me look through significant parts quickly. The other advantage is that I can have a double look at the words I don't know in the beginning and try to remember it.
In addition, I love listening to English songs and watching English movies. Although I may not to able to get every word, I can approximately know what the outline is talking about. The more I listen, the more my listening skills improve. I think ICRT is a perfect material for everyone to make progress at their listening skills, which contains all kinds of topics. Maybe next time I can try taking notes while listening as the author recommended.
I think "Plan your days" is the most important, also most urgent one for me to try out. In senior high school, most of our time are usually scheduled by teachers or parents. This has a very big difference with university, which we have to plan our time all by ourselves. I have participate in many after school activities, so how to deal with my time becomes a challenge. I'll try to make a list of things to do and classify them according to importance just like the author suggested. Then, I'll make a whole week schedule to remind me what I should do everyday. Besides, keeping up with my schedule is also important.
The other method I am trying is "Chip away at big jobs". I should quit the habit of accomplishing things right before the deadline. Just like the author said "Some tasks are just too big to accomplish at one time." I should try to break big projects into a number of parts and spend a little time on it everyday so that I won't have to panic when the deadline is around the corner.
In conclusion, I have a question about these methods. About "Study efficiently", I think studying alone in a suitable place can let me concentrate more on schoolwork, but when I have questions I have no idea to look for help. I don't know if it is good for me to study with others to answer my questions because I might lose concentration. Is it helpful for finding someone to study with me?
