Nanny, born in an ordinary family in New Jersey, came all the way to New York for school work. After graduated from NYU, instead of finding a job related to what she learned in university, she decided to be a "nanny". This turning point not only changed her career, but also changed her whole life and values. She got the job from the wealthy X family, living in Manhattan, which has a four-year-old boy Grayer waiting to have a new nanny. At first, she thought this would be an easy job. On the contrary, the work was so tough for her to imagine. Getting used to the upper class family is the first challange for an ordinary girl like her, such as so many rules, so many luxuries...and so on. Coming up next is a four-year-old naughty boy challanging her patience by driving her crazy. She did not quit, but tried to makes friends with Grayer...
I have to apologize I haven't read as much as usual in the last two weeks because of preparing the mid-term test last week. Talking about so far I've read, I think this story shows clearly about the upper classes life. We may not have a luxurious life like them, but by reading through the story, we can imagine ourselves having lots of Prada, LV, Dior clothes and a whole room for shoes which already satisfied me by daydreaming! Grayer may be the naughtiest boy I have ever seen that made me respect Nanny a lot for standing him so long. This book decribes every character very carefully during their conversation. I think the author is trying to mock wealthy mothers who are always busy shopping and going to parties. Instead of taking good care to their own born child, they would rather give the responsibility to the nanny. In the end, the poorest person is not the nanny nor the parents, but the children. In conclusion, we can have a deep feeling about the importance of parents love in this story.
