Principles of Effective Group Presentations

A. True Team work: Synergy happens when the result of group work is better than what one member could achieve alone.

1. Be committed to group goal

2. Keep discussions on track

3. Complete individual assignments on time

4. Manage conflict among members (Groups that don’t experience some kind of conflict risk the problem of groupthink—group accepts whatever conclusion without critical process.)

5. Encourage input from all members.

B. Preparation

1. Divide the topic into areas of responsibility

2. Draft an outline of your topic area

3. Combine member outlines to form a group outline.

4. Finalize the details of delivery

5. Practice your presentation as a group.

C. Content

1. Build Audience relevancy

2. Has clear focus (by having a good thesis statement)

3. Good organization (introduction, main points, conclusion, proper transitions)

4. Effective visual aids (design, number)

D. Delivery

1. Enthusiasm (Energy conveyed through voice, eye contact and other body language)

2. Familiarity with the content (words and material)

3. Show team spirit
